Sedgefield in Springtime

If you were planning a spring break in the North East of England this May, Blighty would suggest that you get your B&B booked pronto! It is going to be rather crowded in the Sedgefield area during the coming election campaign. After reporting yesterday on David Shayler’s intention to run against Tony Blair in his constituency (see below), now the father of a Royal Military policeman killed in Iraq has launched a campaign to unseat the Prime Minister. Musician Brian Eno, once of Roxy Music, thence of dodgy muzak, is funding the campaign.

Mr Keys says that his intention is to achieve justice for his son, who was one of six Red Caps killed by an Iraqi mob at Al Majar Al Kabir on June 24th 2003. He is unhappy about the legality of the war and thinks that Tony Blair is George Bush’s rear end. He asks, ‘How does he think those families of dead Iraqis feel?’ We’d suggest that they feel much the same way as the families of thousands of dead Iraqis killed by Saddam Hussein.

Step forward anyone else with a personal grievance against the Prime Minister. There are plenty of socialist celebrities with cash to spare. And Sedgefield is the place to be this May!
