Sea views

Out-grown your home? Feeling hemmed in by those four walls? Why not buy an island in Dorset? £2.5 million for Green Island in Poole Harbour doesn’t seem half bad. In certain parts of London that would buy you a one bedroom cellar flat with communal loo. And if that seems a bit too much to take on you could go for a strip of beach in North Wales, which has a guide price of £50 000!

The estate agent handling the island sale tells us that this sort of property doesn’t come on the market very often (mine of information, this one!). It is a bijou island benefiting from a light, airy aspect, with views from four sides. It is open plan, though has plenty of character and original features, such as the sea and sky. It comes complete with helipod and pontoon.

As for the piece of beach in north Wales. That has no running water apparently, apart from the Irish Sea lapping at you toes of course. There are no posh features like helipods, but there is planning permission for a corrugated iron beach hut. Well, it’s only 50k what did you expect? An island in Dorset?!
