What has America done to Christopher Hitchens?
Today Blighty would like address our readers from across the pond. That’s Americans in case you’re unaware of which side of the pond Blighty is on or what the hell pond he’s banging on about anyway.
Blighty is rather concerned about this man (see below).

American version of Christopher Hitchens
America, what have you done to our debonair, open-shirted 1980s intellectual icon Christopher Hitchens? And if you’re thinking Blighty has the wrong chap, is confusing him with another Hitchens, perhaps from the Sussex branch of the family, you are mistaken. Because this is what Christopher - Vanity Fair journo, renta-quote, ‘mine’s a G&T’ - Hitchens looked like before leaving these shores:

English version of Christopher Hitchens
Quite a dish, I’m sure our female readers will agree. Not only that, he was a dashed lefty! After a few years in America he’s become an overweight neocon hawk with a face like Dorian Gray’s portrait! What have you done to him America? Blighty is postponing the US tour for the foreseeable future.

Hitch is my favorite commie, but I think our capitalism is rubbing off on him. Personally, I think that’s good…except for the weight gain & the alcohol-sodden look.

It was when he got the dimple chin removed in ‘93 that I knew Hitch was going down hill.
Mind you anytime in the US will ‘puff up’ a man, just look what they did to Marlon Brando! - He was born in Eccles y’know.

Yes, Hitchens does look as though he likes a drink. He seems to have a cig permanently attached to his fingers too.
You’d think Eccles would make more of their Brando connection.

Yeah I know, it’s weird ennit?
i suppose seeing as how they have that ’sweet’ cake connection going they probably reckon they can let the Brando one slide.
And the Tina Turner connection.
