Blighty returns!

Clearing up at last, it must be hometime!

The Blighty family have returned from their little sojourn to the coast. In keeping with tradition we returned on the hottest day of the year. A heatwave hits the UK and we spent the day driving up the motorway dehydrating and recalling our rainy days on the beach. For anyone living outside the UK a heatwave means that the weather has cleared up a bit and there’s no need for a coat. Blighty has already heard people bemoaning the fact that it’s a bit warm. Here in the UK we wait all year for a decent day of weather and then complain about it within the first few minutes of clear sky.

Anyway, normal service will shortly be resumed at Blighty once the heatwave has passed… which shouldn’t be long now. Wimbledon begins on Monday after all. Wimbledon, I feel a Blighty guide coming on….

That’s hilarious! Yes, it was a heat wave today, and I’ve been in that boat before. We once spent 6 hours stuck on the m25 on an 80+ day. Brilliant!

Oh, the irony!

Then again, Wimbledon next week? Bet you it rains again!

Hi Julie, glad you enjoyed the post. At least the roads were ok. No one in their right mind was spending today driving around the country!

Yes Ghone, it will rain next week. Have Wimbledon got that big brolly thing yet?

Welcome back! Given the heat you’ll need to get the punkah walla working on that fan immediately and break into a fresh bottle of Pilgrim Gin.

Do you suppose it will rain for Wimbledon after they replace the grass with concrete?

Enjoy your strawberries and cream…regards

At least we had flash-floods to cool us down mellowyellow!

Thanks HI, if they’re going to concrete over a Great British institution can’t they do it to the Royal Family instead?!

100+(Fahrenheit) degrees here in Florida this past week. Where you can’t live comfortably without air conditioning or screened windows. (due to the bugs)

I’d love to live in the UK just for the summers! (and avoid the height of the Atlantic hurricane season)

Hi Anne, the weather has been good here this week, flash-floods apart. Nowadays we’re getting our monthly rainfall in a couple of hours which is far better, unless your house gets flooded of course.
